that was a really good job posting, and they did say first come first serve, so that's no big surprise it's been taken. You're back to pondering coming over and flipping your own bill.

Charles, you always have had a flair for the dramatic, though you do seem to have some misgivings about deciding to leave Korea behind. I wouldn't recommend trading stocks with that attitude, but other than that it makes you a more interesting person. And, that's part of why I like you. Determination and a flair for the dramatic seem to go hand in hand quite often.
No misgivings, Mr. Joe.

And especially not now. My friend who works for GEPIK with an AA just notified me a couple of days ago that the Korean government has cut the GEPIK internship program, and she just got a message this week that they're cutting her off in February and not giving her jack squat as a contract-end bonus. She's flustered about it, obviously. She was the MANAGER of a À¯Ä¡¿ø in the US for several years, can speak Korean, and she's just about to the one-year mark at GEPIK.

Oh, but never mind that, why not cut her off and replace her with a BA in Fashion Design and no practical experience?

Glad I didn't choose to go with GEPIK. Laughing

Guess I gotta hurry up and finish my Bachelor's of Science before Taiwan does the same thing. Then I can go onto Dave's ESL Cafe and berate fellow users who have associate's degrees for being infantile, barely capable of functioning, etc. because "oh look at me, I have 16 years of general education, and you only have 15, you troglodyte!"

It's like playing Super Mario where you stand on a platform, and just as you breath a sigh of relief, it begins to crumble from under you!

Good news is that I just found out I can do DSST exams in Hong Kong, so I might be able to graduate this July.

Am I dramatic and determined? Maybe. I guess it depends on the eye/mind of the beholder.

Charles, I think we both know very well the other's argument. A humbling illness has taught me humility and also how precious time is so I really don't want to waste time stating the obvious or change a good mood into a bad one. I also have to go meet somebody right now so I gotta go.

Whoa, just a few seconds ago (it's literally not even been a minute yet) there was an earthquake! Everyone here in this building felt it...

I agree with Joe and myself. The F-2 is a powerful tool.

i was right, too, your main weapon over here is English, you can use it to make some pretty mean money just by showing up. Try Wall Street Institute, pagoda, special after school programs who will hire part-time, who want part-timers and will pay a premium to get them.

when I first came to Korea, I could have gotten an F visa, because of having been recently divorced by a Korean woman. But, I was in Ulsan and was new to korea and didn't know of the power of the F visas or of life in Seoul or of how the world worked over here ... I thought it was great to work 4 hours a day and make 2.2 million (with a paid room) and finish at 2 pm every day and have a private driver .... then I came to Seoul and there were so many doors opening up left and right .... and, there was itaewon for fun .... take this advice as you will , but compared to a bilingual person who say had graudated a ¿Ü´ë and could interpret and .... make 400,000 for special events per day ... but has to work 10 hours a day translating otherwise, you will work 5 hours per day and take home more than that person does. You don't believe me, it's up to you. I have no reason to lie. If anything, all the BS I've experienced with

I better stop there.

If I had a wife who had supported me, we could've done well together. The F visa is your power, man. Take it while it lasts ...

I'm seriously thinking of creating a comic lampooning the situation in Korea in which there's a foreign supervillain called "F-2 Man" with a cape that has a big "F-2" emblazoned on it. And he shows up to foil the plans of the Chief Wiggum-esque immigration officers every time they just *TRY* to enforce the law. Would that be a good comic, or what?

I just quit my job in Taiwan, and then found out that three of the staff members/teachers have quit in the last three months, and the secretary and both the Taiwanese teachers also plan to quit soon. In other words, only Teacher Allen, the math teacher, is going to be left, aside from Cindy, the dragon lady...

Wow, this industry really sucks.

The good news is that this Amigo School experience sucked equally for everyone regardless of race or nationality, so I can't really complain of discriminatory treatment. Laughing

BTW, Kaohsiung Korean School is a good place with very a friendly principal, so don't confuse my irritation at EFL with them. It's just Amigo School that sucks, and basically every hagwon or buxiban known to man.
