Has anyone ever seen this show?
There are a number of foreign (non-Korean) women on this show discussing a variety of topics about Korea (from what I can gather so far).
Anyways... they are all ridiculously good at Korean. I'm jealous Crying or Very sad
I wonder how they got so good and how long they have been speaking it.
Check it out on youtube sometime.

haha i know what ur talkin about...a friend showed me the show and wow i was impressed...all those girls are living in korea at the moment as far as i understand...and because of this language absorption increases noticably....i did catch one of the girls honorfying a verb on herself...that was funny (the audience thought so too)...but other than that...they pretty damn good!

don't forget they are also stunningly beautiful.
But, in all, it's a good idea to listen to foreigner's opinions, I humbly believe
And, it must be hard to find foreigners who speak Korean well and who are stunningly beautiful. I wonder how long the show will run ..... Question

I have a friend who streams it all day long on his laptop. I sometimes catch it when flipping through channels, though it doesn't interest me that much. It seems like kind of a sexist show to me. Basically since it's ¹Ì³àµéÀÇ ¼ö´Ù, that bars all of us Çѱ¹¸»À» Àß ÇÏ´Â ³²ÀÚ from participating. I'm sure some Korean feminist group can find some way to interpret the show to show how it "oppresses" women the same way they are able to claim º´¿ªÁ¦µµ discriminates against women, etc. However, I think it's sexist -- I mean, sure, Jeopardy!, Wheel of Fortune, etc. would be better financial successes as well if they only allowed young women on the show, but do they? Aren't they still able to get viewers nonetheless? Or maybe both shows have tanked in the one year, four months since I've lived in the US.

Really? Okay, please do send! I won't be able to watch until after midterms, but it's nice to know that us Ú¸Ñû can be on TV now, too. I doubt I'd make it at this point, but it's a goal to shoot for in a couple of years.

Cool. Between hearing that there's a ¹Ì³²µéÀÇ ¼ö´Ù and (on Friday) the announcement that the Korean government is going to institute a quota system to keep 100% of teachers in Korea from being female, I'm starting to feel a little bit less trampled upon by the extreme power-wielding Æä¹Ì´Ï½ºÆ®!

I remember watching ¹Ì³²µéÀÇ ¼ö´Ù and for whatever reason, it's not as entertaining! And I'm a girl! Anyway, I love ¹Ì¼ö´Ù. Smile One of the few variety/talk shows I watch on a regular basis. One of my Korean friends (like actually a FOB who moved here just a few years back) told me that sometimes those girls know things about Korea she didn't even know!

BTW, I used the term "FOB," and I don't know if people will get offended by it... I mean, where I'm from, it's definitely not derogatory at all; it's just a term used to describe people who recently moved to the US (usually Asians). I feel like some people think it's offensive though, so if anyone here thinks it is... I won't use it again.

I don't consider FOB offensive, since it can apply to any person fresh off the boat in any country. I was a "FOB" in Fukuoka, Japan when I literally stepped off the New Camellia -- I was fresh off the boat, literally! Of course, never underestimate the need of some people to get REALLY OFFENDED about some stupid term like that. I have heard westerners use this term all the time to describe other westerners -- the kind who just got into Korea, and haven't realized yet that you don't need to put on a new set of clothes everyday.

Everyone talks about ¹Ì¼ö´Ù, it's true. The woman who cuts my hair started talking to me about it yesterday. It's pretty wildly popular in Korea, that's true. We discussed it in class, and it turns out a lot of people hate it. Our teacher thinks it shows women in a negative light as being really frivolous and air-headed, and the Japanese soldier in our class thinks that the Japanese girls on the show are so air-headed and frivolous, they're misrepresenting Japan and saying things about Japan that aren't true.

I don't really care too much about it. I don't find it entertaining to watch, but I don't hate it. No matter how you look at it, it's sexist -- the question is whether it's sexist against men (my opinion) or women (my teacher's opinion) BUT it shows foreigners as being capable of speaking Korean, which might help remove SOME stereotypes about foreigners and show that there are many non-Koreans with a good awareness of Korean language and culture.

Do you think they were raised in Korea? Although the person who is filming has such a strong foreigner accent....

i start getting curious from talking to a korean friend of mine. then i poke around and find all these episodes on youtube. Man i got hooked. First by the talent and second by the beauty of the women. I personally have gone through two languages and korean is my third and seriously I know how hard to get to such level of fluency exhibited by some of the girls there on the show.

But maybe it's exactly that seemingly "air-headed" and "bubbly" quality that has propelled these women to such high level of fluency. Sometimes, i realize my personal traits - being a bit inhibited and too analytical - would forever put me on a slow path towards perfection at any languages. Anyhow, i find the shows most of all contain good clean fun and to me they show a bunch of energetic and curious people coming together trying to explore each others' pecularity. So anyone who has a problem with images cast in the show, I could not jump to the same conclusion because I understand how strenuous it would take anyone to reach that point in any foreign languages. These women are a precious rarity, not because of their beauty but because of their intelligence and curiosity.
