Post subject: The Rules -- Newly Revised & Expanded
|
|
|
The Rules
This site and its forums are provided in an effort to foster a friendly and cooperative community. All users who participate in our community are affirming their willingness to comply with the terms set forth below. ("Members", "Users", and "Community" refer to anyone and everyone that uses this site and these forums.) All terms outlined here are retroactive and apply to all posts -- past, present, and future. These terms also apply to all current and future capabilities and features of this site (e.g. chat rooms, private messaging, etc.)
Please note that violation of the rules by another user does not give you free license to break the rules as well. Please use the "Report Problems" forum to report any violations of the rules. If you have any questions about these rules please contact the site owner or post your question to the "Report Problems" forum.
1. Forums, Boards, Discussions
- Spam is not tolerated under any circumstance. Users may not offer any services nor may they solicit anything whatsoever on this site, its forums, or through any other service provided by paperwindow.com. Do not use this site to redirect users to another site for commercial or personal reasons. Users who knowingly post spam will be immediately banned without warning.
- This site and its forums are intended for a wide variety of users. You may not post any inappropriate content including, but not limited to, pornographic material, offensive text, racist or intentionally inflammatory comments or any other material that the Moderators or the site owner deem inappropriate.
- Before posting a new topic, users should search the forums to see if the topic has already been covered. Please use both the Google search and the phpBB search function -- both located in the search box at the bottom of every page in these forums -- before posting a new topic. Users who consistently show no desire to help themselves can expect to be warned by the Moderators and or Site Owner. Community members don't like to repeat themselves when they've already taken the time to provide quality responses. Please take the minimal time required to perform this search before posting.
- Users should use an appropriate subject when posting a new topic. Subjects like "Help" or "Oh my god!" do not provide any useful information to your target audience (i.e. the community) and, therefore, will neither get the information needed nor enable others to provide it.
- The Korean Forums at paperwindow.com are Discussion forums, not chat forums. The Site Owner recognizes a distinct difference between the two. Posts that contain nothing more than "Thank you", "you're welcome", "せせ", etc. do not contribute meaningfully to discussions. If you want to reply to a post or otherwise contribute to a thread, please have something meaningful to say. Replies like, "Yeah, ぞ ぞ." are not meaningful. Likewise, please do not post "Hi. I'm new here!" topics in the language forums. We're glad to have you with us and look forward to your active participation in our community, but these sorts of posts fall into the "chat" category and belong in the 陥号. This does not mean that posts need to be long, complicated, etc. Remember, the guideline to go by is to ask yourself "Is this meaningful?"
- Posts are to be made in the relevant forum. Please read the forum descriptions before you make your post. If you post to the wrong forum your topic will be moved to the correct forum. Consistently posting to the wrong forum or posting to multiple forums will result in suspension and/or deletion of your account.
- Users must observe all copyright rules and restrictions. If you quote text or use material from another source you MUST cite the source in your post.
- If any tags or code in a post have a negative impact on this or any other site bandwidth the post will be removed and the offending user will be banned.
- Please post in a way that is consistent with "normal writing". In other words, refrain from excessive use of colored text, emoticons/smilies, all-caps, etc. Users who consistently abuse this rule will be banned.
- Debating and controversial topics are fine, but we will not tolerate rudeness, insults, personal attacks or defamatory speech. Our decision is final regarding what violates this or any other rule.
- Support for translations (or anything else) is provided on a volunteer basis within the forums. Under no circumstances should you be contacting the Moderators or Site Owner (by any means) with requests for support. If you wish to report problems, please use the "Report Problems" forum. If you would like to suggest something to the administrators, use the "Suggestion Box" forum.
- Private communication between the Site Owner, Moderators, and members is not to be made public in any forum or by any other venue except forums which are designed specifically for Moderators and site administrators to discuss such matters. Likewise, warnings and bans shall not be openly discussed in the public forums.
- Users should be aware of the fact that these forums are operated and maintained on a voluntary basis. Neither the Site Owner nor any Moderator or User receives payment of any kind for their time here. Consequently, there should never be any user demands for support, help, and/or any other service via the forums, private message, or any other capability provided by this site.
- General linking within posts (or signatures, or private messages) to other sites is generally not permitted unless the link or links directly pertain to the topic. The Site Owner and Moderators are the sole arbiters of what links will be permitted and whether users will be warned or banned as a result of abusing this rule. Please see Section 2, below, regarding signatures.
- Users may not promote their own site(s) through the forums. Such posting constitutes spam and will result in the user being warned and/or banned.
- Discussion of illegal activities such as drug use, software piracy, etc. are not allowed in our forums. Posting said discussions will result in warning and/or banning.
- Each member is allowed one user account. Registering with multiple accounts is not allowed.
- While these rules cover many common situations, they cannot anticipate everything. The Site Owner and the Moderators reserve the right to edit, move, and/or delete any post at any time for any reason. The site owner is the sole arbiter of what constitutes inappropriate material. We reserve the right to take any actions we deem necessary to ensure that this site is not disrupted or abused in any way. We also reserve the right to ban any user for any reason. Access to our site is a privilege, not a right.
2. Signatures
- Signatures may not contain images. This forum allows the use of avatars, so do not use them in your signatures.
- Text in the signatures is subject to the same rules and conditions as all other material in the forums and posts.
- Signatures may contain only one link and it must be of a personal nature. If that link is in any way related to spam, pornography, or anything else deemed inappropriate by the Moderators or the Site Owner, the offending user will be banned.
- Failure to abide by any of these rules will result in a warning and/or banning.
3. Avatars
- Avatars will not be any larger than 100 pixels square (100 x 100) and will not contain animation. Avatars will not mimic or attempt to portray another user.
- Avatars are subject to the same rules and conditions as all other material in the forums and posts. Users who abuse these rules will be warned and/or banned.
4. Moderation and Administrative Actions
- The Site Owner reserves all rights to all content and all user accounts on this site and its forums. The Site Owner and Moderators may take any action on any post of any user for any reason. Users may be warned and/or banned by the Moderators and/or Site Owner for any reason whatsoever.
- Arguing with the Site Owner and or Moderators after having received a warning will lead to your user account being banned.
- If you feel that you have been unfairly warned and/or banned, you are welcome to contact the Site Owner or another Moderator. If the Site Owner or Moderator feels that the administrative action was taken in error, that action may be reversed. All decisions made by the Site Owner are final.
- Any attempt to circumvent a ban will lead to more serious actions including, but not limited to, criminal prosecution. Circumvention includes re-registering under a non-banned username, changing IP addresses to evade an IP ban, registering a new email account to evade an email ban, etc.
- Banning users is a last resort and considerable thought is given before taking this action. Only the Site Owner may ban users. Although the Site Owner may consider lifting a ban from time to time, this is rarely done.
- The Site Owner reserves the right to add, modify, or remove any of these rules at any time. Rule changes apply to past, current and future posts.
